About Formation Tasman
Good building starts with timeless design.
Formation Tasman is a small, locally owned building business based at Eaglehawk Neck, working across the Tasman Peninsula. It grew out of a carpentry background and time spent with quality ground-up builders, on projects running from grassroots simplicity through to magazine-cover, award-winning homes. That experience goes into good quality new homes and renovations, without making the process more complicated than it needs to be.
In practice that means design that still feels considered and relevant years from now, and sensible choices about materials and construction, including reducing embodied energy where it is practical. The result is a house that performs well, is comfortable to live in, and is durable and straightforward to maintain.
What we build
From a bare block to the last coat of paint.
Most jobs on the Peninsula touch more than one of these, and it is the same builder for all of them.
New Homes
New home building and custom home design, foundation pouring and concrete pouring, framing, roof building and roof installation. Anything from a modest first house to luxury home building or prefabricated home building.
Renovations & Alterations
Home renovations and remodelling, home extension services and home addition construction, demolition where it is needed, flooring and flooring repair, and interior finishing. Older Peninsula houses opened up and brought back into use.
Coastal & Rural Homes
Country home building on exposed blocks, with exterior design services, exterior finishing and fence building chosen for wind and salt rather than a suburban street.
Interiors & Smaller Projects
Deck and patio construction, garage construction and garage design, plus accessory buildings like studios and sheds. Then the smaller jobs: general repairs and maintenance, gutter cleaning, project management and consultation.

Selected Work
New builds, renovations and alterations across the Tasman Peninsula, alongside higher end homes managed earlier in the trade for other builders.
In their words
“My experience with Formation TAS has been outstanding. They have transformed my 60's shack into a bright and stylish little waterfront cottage. I couldn't be happier. The great workmanship and attention to detail is what stands out for me. Thank you.”

Let’s Talk About Your Build
- Tell us roughly what you are thinking and where the block is. Neither has to be settled yet.
- The first step is a conversation, not a quote. We would rather understand the project and how you want to approach it before anything gets priced.
- If we are not the right builder for it, we will say so and point you at someone who is.
Or send the form and we will come back to you
